Disney seems to be going through a phase currently and has announced multiple live-action remakes.
I’m personally in two minds about it, I think that some certainly sound really good – namely Beauty and the Beast – and I think it will be interesting to see the new interpretation of the classics. (Still waiting to figure out how they’re going to do a live-action Winnie the Pooh though.)
But at the same time, I think there is still a whole world of stories for them to explore, and they could certainly spend more time focussing on that. Especially after Frozen was such a hit, they could certainly be utilising their updated animation techniques more.
Plus, more remakes means fewer original songs, which would be a pity, and also fewer opportunities to bring in new attractions at the parks. Though, I’m sure Disney wouldn’t be that short-sighted, as they do have a large focus on generating money, as they are a business after all.
